Honors Student at OrientationThe mission of the University Honors Program at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities is

  • To provide an enriched and intellectually exciting Honors curriculum that will broaden the horizons of highly motivated students and will highlight the connections between their chosen fields of study and other disciplines.

  • To encourage students to gain both global and local perspectives by offering early opportunities for study abroad and for leadership and service in our community.

  • To highlight and make accessible to students the many resources and activities to be found at the University, including participation in a broad spectrum of scholarly research, creative work, and internships, under the guidance of world-renowned faculty.

  • To offer continuing one-on-one contact with UHP’s professional advisors and dedicated faculty, so as to help academically talented students chart their own course throughout their career at the University and prepare for graduate or professional school or post-graduation career opportunities.

  • To provide UHP scholars with a stimulating and supportive community of like-minded peers in diverse fields and from diverse backgrounds, making life long contacts in the process.

  • To encourage the University’s outstanding undergraduates to compete for national and international scholarships, and to provide guidance throughout the application process.

  • To provide a path towards graduation with Latin Honors (cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude).
