Paul Capel

Hi Everyone. I am Paul Capel.  I am in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo- Engineering.  My research and teaching interests are in the areas of environmental engineering and water quality. Do you know where your drinking water comes from and where your poop goes? Everyone should know this!! I am from Cleveland, Ohio. When I was growing up, the city was known as the "Mistake by the Lake" with the river that caught on fire due to all of the oil and other pollutants in the water. This caught my attention and influenced my career.

I studied chemistry and, then later environmental engineering. I am the co-advisor to the UMN student group "Engineers Without Borders." The group work with local communities to design and implement development projects both locally and internationally. I love to travel, cook, and tell punny jokes. I have enjoyed teaching Honors seminars and NEXUS One cohorts for a number of years. I love the curiosity of Honors students. I look forward to meeting many of you this Fall.
